There’s a lot of talk going around concerning the end of the world. This new dooms day prediction of the end of the world is based on the Mayan Calendar. The Mayan calendar ends on Dec. 21, 2012; therefore some are predicting that the world will end on that day. This is the same as date setting, but Jesus specifically said that no one knows the date of the end of the world; Mt.24:36, “…..of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” We must bear in mind that date setting is a common practice. Here is a website that lists some already past and future predictions; http://www.bible.ca/pre-date-setters.htm. Here is something to consider, if the world is ending on December 21 2012 at the end of the Mayan calendar, then this nullifies the theories of the Pre-tribulationist and Mid-tribulationists. Pre-tribulationists believe that the rapture will take place 7 years before the end of this age and the Mid-tribulationists believe that the rapture will take place 3 1/2 years before the end of this age. If 12/21/2012 is in fact the end of the world and you are reading this article, then both of these theories fail, because it is less than 3 ½ years to the end of the Mayan calendar.
